West German Ceramic Wall Clock – 1970s

Description

This exceptional 1970s ceramic wall clock combines sculptural form with everyday function. The face is marked Avia and Made in Germany, and is housed in a beautifully glazed ceramic case attributed to Hofmann Keramik — identified by the ‘H’ in a circle and mold number 3641 stamped into the back.

The rich brown glaze and flowing molded design evoke the decorative language of the fat lava era, with hints of Art Nouveau revival styling. A new, quartz mechanism has been fitted, ensuring smooth, reliable operation.

Very nice vintage condition. One minor hairline crack on the back of the clock, stable and not affecting the structure or function and not at all visible on the front (see photos). No chips. Clock is clean, restored, and fully working.

DIMENSIONS: 23 × 23 × 4.5 cm
