Designed in the early 1960s under the direction of V.B. Wilkins for G Plan, this set of four Fresco dining chairs exemplifies the range’s refined take on British modernism. Light in proportion yet robust in construction, Fresco balanced Scandinavian-influenced elegance with the warmth and practicality that made G Plan one of Britain’s most respected post-war manufacturers.
The chairs feature the signature Fresco ladder back — three slender rails framed by gently curved uprights — set above subtly sculpted seat frames and tapered, slightly splayed legs. The design is understated but considered, intended to look as good pulled out into a room as it does gathered around a table.
This set has been preserved in excellent original condition, retaining both its period teak finish and original upholstery, offering a rare and authentic snapshot of mid-century British domestic design at its best.
A classic and highly usable example of G Plan’s most celebrated dining furniture.
