1960s White & Newton Chest of Drawers

This is a beautifully crafted mid-century modern chest of drawers by renowned British maker White & Newton, dating from the 1960s. Expertly made from richly grained teak, the piece features five graduated drawers with sculpted solid afromosia handles and a sleek, minimalist profile. The clean lines, subtle curves, and warm tone of the wood reflect the refined aesthetic that defined White & Newton’s design philosophy during their peak period under head designer Arthur Edwards.

The chest is raised on a recessed plinth base, giving it a grounded yet elegant stance. The high-quality construction is evident throughout, from the precise joinery to the finely matched veneers on the drawer fronts. Inside the top drawer are the remnants of the White & Newton label and also the original retailer label from Times Furnishing —a mark of provenance from one of the UK’s most respected furniture retailers of the era, known for curating contemporary design for a discerning clientele.

A timeless and functional piece that would make an ideal statement in any modern or vintage-inspired interior. This piece has been restored and is in excellent vintage condition, with only tiny marks adding to it’s character. This is a superb example of British mid-century design at its finest.
