G-Plan Model 4060 Sideboard by Kofod-Larsen
Description
A beautiful example of the rare Model 4060 sideboard, designed by Ib Kofod-Larsen for G-Plan’s Danish Range (1962–1967). This piece captures the refined Scandinavian aesthetic of the period, with elegant proportions, striking cathedral-grain teak doors and sculptural solid rosewood handles — one of Larsen’s most distinctive design details.
The teak has been carefully refinished to restore its warmth and depth while preserving the character of the original mid-century finish. The doors now open and close smoothly after precise hinge realignment, and the interior remains fully original, with adjustable shelves, the complete set of internal drawers and the G-Plan gold stamp confirming authenticity.
During restoration, the original 1960s G-Plan advertising poster was discovered inside the cabinet — an exceptionally rare survival. It has been gently flattened, placed in an archival sleeve and reinstated in its original position using removable conservation-grade tape. This unique piece of provenance elevates the sideboard beyond a typical restored example and provides a direct connection to its history.
Overall, the condition is excellent, with minor age-related marks sensitively retained to maintain authenticity. This is a standout example of Kofod-Larsen’s work for G-Plan — a refined, sculptural mid-century design complete with its original in-cabinet poster, making it one of the most distinctive and collectible 4060s available today.
