An original vintage Arkana tulip dining table designed by Maurice Burke for Arkana during the 1970s, featuring a sculptural cast aluminium pedestal base finished in white and a striking black ash circular top.
Burke’s celebrated tulip designs were developed in Britain and drew inspiration from the revolutionary pedestal furniture created by Eero Saarinen, reinterpreting the concept with Arkana’s own distinctive engineering and style. The result is an iconic piece of Space Age furniture that remains as contemporary today as it was over fifty years ago.
The single pedestal base eliminates traditional table legs, creating a clean, uncluttered silhouette while offering generous legroom for four diners. The contrast between the crisp white base and richly grained black ash top gives the table a timeless aesthetic that works equally well in Mid Century Modern and contemporary interiors.
The table remains in very good vintage condition, displaying only minor age-related marks consistent with careful use. These small imperfections are shown in the photographs and do not detract from its overall presentation.
An increasingly sought-after design by one of Britain’s most influential furniture designers, combining sculptural form with everyday practicality.
