West German Fat Lava Wall Bowl Form 1549
Description
A sculptural mid-century ceramic wall bowl in richly glazed Fat Lava style, attributed to Bay Keramik, one of West Germany’s leading pottery manufacturers of the 1950s–70s. This piece is marked 1549 and includes two discreet holes in the base rim — designed for wall display, making it both functional and highly decorative.
Unlike many mass-produced shapes, Form 1549 appears infrequently in the collector market, suggesting this design was either short-lived or produced in smaller runs. The bowl’s thick glaze and classic profile are typical of the early Fat Lava movement, combining expressive finish with clean mid-century lines.
In perfect condition, ideal for collectors of European art pottery or for adding texture and interest to a modern interior.
