Murano Sommerso Faceted Glass Bowl – Alessandro Mandruzzato
Description
This striking mid-century Murano Sommerso glass bowl is a masterful example of Italian glass artistry, attributed to the Mandruzzato workshop and dating from the 1960s–70s.
Hand-crafted using the Sommerso (“submerged”) technique, the bowl features a deep amethyst core encased in layers of amber and clear glass. The precision-cut, faceted exterior reflects and refracts light beautifully from every angle, making it a sculptural statement piece as much as a functional object.
Standing at 8 cm tall, this piece works equally well as a decorative bowl, ashtray, or catchall on a coffee table, sideboard or shelf. It remains in excellent vintage condition with one tiny pinprick mark on one facet—likely from the original making process. No chips or cracks. A perfect addition to a curated interior or glass collection.
